Mr. Aaron Stickley is the Director of Bands and Orchestras at Lamar High School for his third year at Lamar. His responsibilities include directing the Lamar High School Marching Band, Wind Symphony, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Color Guard. He serves as the Visual Designer and Choreographer for all marching arts programs. Prior to his time at Lamar, Mr. Stickley was the Assistant Director of Bands at the Paragould School District where the program was named the 2017 Class 4A State Honor Ensemble and the 2016 Class 4A Arkansas State Marching Champions. The Paragould School District was also listed on the NAMM Best Communities for Music Education and the Paragould High School Band received the honor of being named a National Band Association Blue Ribbon Award recipient. Mr. Stickley is currently on brass staff for the Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps and performed with both the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (2012) and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2014). Mr. Stickley graduated Magna cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, his primary instrument being the euphonium. While studying at MTSU, he was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the national honor music society, and was named Most Outstanding in Euphonium Performance as well as Music Education.
Mr. Tab Olson is the Assistant Director of Bands and Orchestras at Lamar High School. His responsibilities include co-directing the Lamar High School Marching Band, Wind Symphony, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Band. He also serves as Director of Percussion for all Lamar High School Performing Ensembles. Prior to his time at Lamar, Mr. Olson worked with a number of competitive high school band programs in the Houston area, including North Shore Senior High School and Clear Creek High School. While with North Shore Senior High School, he served as Front Ensemble Director for the marching band and indoor percussion ensemble, winning a TCGC Scholastic World Class gold medal in 2017. While with Clear Creek High School, he served as the front ensemble director, audio engineer, and percussion private lesson instructor. While participating in the marching arts, Mr. Olson performed with Forte Drum and Bugle Corps (2012), Imperial Percussion Theater (2013), Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2013-2015) and The Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (2016). Mr. Olson graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Lamar University in Beaumont, Tx. While in the percussion studio, he performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Conference in 2016 and received numerous honors for his performances on campus. Mr. Olson is excited to bring his unique experiences into the classroom for his first year with the Lamar High School Band and Orchestra.
