Lamar High School Band
The Lamar High School Band is under the direction of Mr. Aaron Stickley and Mr. Tab Olson. The Lamar Band is one of the premier performing ensembles within the Houston Independent School District. The band has a long-standing tradition of musical excellence and achievements. Members of the Lamar Band enjoy a sense of self-worth and personal satisfaction that can only occur as a result of being an integral part of our organization. The mission of the Lamar Band is to provide unique, meaningful and musical experiences for students both in concert performances as well as marching in athletic events, parades, and competitions.
The Lamar High School Marching Band is one of the largest and most visible student organizations on the Lamar High School campus. The marching band performs at all Lamar home and away varsity football games. The marching band is comprised of over 100 students from the five performing band programs and includes students in grades 9-12.
Lamar High School ensembles include the Wind Symphony, Beginning Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Jazz Combos. Students are placed in a concert band according to their playing ability, attitude, participation, classification, and instrumentation needs. Students may move from band to band as deemed necessary or appropriate. The concert bands provide for a wide range of playing abilities and time commitment. With team teaching, students will have the opportunity to experience full band, sectionals, and one-on-one instruction.
